Carla Bosch

Life of Colour
The universal appeal of Carla Bosch’s paintings lies not only in the easily understandable and appreciated themes she chooses, but also in the intense colours. Her work transports the viewer to a bright and cheerful place and immediately warms the soul. This spectacular combination, teamed with immeasurable talent, is what makes her one of the most popular and recognisable South African artists of our time.
Carla’s life of colour began on 14th January 1976 in Pretoria. It could be that spring’s unveiling of the Jacaranda tree’s purple hue in this city inspired her bold use of colour. The passion and inspiration that she expresses for her work make her claim that painting is not her first love hard to believe. She is madly in love with her husband Elroy and is a dedicated mother to their two children, Sarah and Daniel. It is from this loving environment that Carla’s work brings homeliness to any space.
In 1997 Carla completed a diploma in Interior Design at the Tshwane University of Technology. Working with design inspired her and after completing her course, she allowed her love for painting to take over. She dedicated herself to making a success of her painting and her hard work paid off as numerous well known
art galleries began to take an interest in her and started to request her work. Most of these galleries are loyal supporters to this day.
The warmth and cheerfulness of her landscapes, boats and street themes reflect Carla’s vibrant personality and her giving nature is evident in her liberal use of brightly coloured acrylics. “Yellow is my favourite colour,” she says, “I think that just a few strokes of yellow will catch the eye and bring any picture to life.”
Carla inherited her talent from her father, who is also her tutor, inspiration and close friend. Although she never formally studied art, she says that she would like to always remain an ever-developing artist, learning every step of the way. For this reason, she embraces every opportunity to interact and learn from other artists. Although Carla’s work is sold and displayed all over the world, she and her family now reside in Cape Town, South Africa.
